Building Surveys

The RICS Building Survey, previously known as a Structural Survey, is the most comprehensive survey available for residential properties. If the property is a listed building, is over 50 years old, is constructed in an unusual way, has had extensive renovations or alterations, or if you are planning major works, a building survey is more suitable.

It provides in-depth analysis on the condition of the property, as well as expert advice on any structural problems, defects, repairs or required maintenance. Where further specialist investigation is identified we will advise accordingly. A market valuation is generally not included as part of the survey, but we can provide one separately. Unlike a HomeBuyer Report, a Building Survey is not produced to a standardised format. This means we can modify the report to your requirements.

The survey itself can take up to a day to complete. It includes testing the building's walls for damp, inspecting the timbers for signs of woodworm or dry rot and a full assessment of the condition of any damp proofing and insulation, as well as advice on non-tested drainage. We will also provide recommendations for further investigations on the property.
